The only Metallica-era song that ended up on Megadeth's debut album was Mechanix. A demo was recorded by the lineup, though the band realized that they would have to retool some of the songs following the release of Metallica's debut album, in July of 1983. As the founder of the band, he added to the band his new neighbors David Ellefson and Greg Handevidt, who had moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles and played bass and guitar.
